Who can enter the algae competition?
Anyone can enter the competition as an individual or a team. If you have entered one project as a team, a second registration is required to submit another project as an individual.
What kinds of algae are included in the algae competition?
Algae in the broadest sense. All microscopic algae: all eucaryotic organisms such as green algae, red algae, diatoms and dinoflagellates and all cyanobacteria including blue-green algae. All macro algae or seaweeds, such as red and brown algae, including giant kelp.
What is the deadline for registration?

How do I pay the registration fee?
You can pay when you register using PayPal or credit card via PayPal.
Can we enter as a project team?
Yes, with one registration you can enter as an individual or a team but not both. If you have submitted a project as a team, a second registration is required to submit as an individual.

How do I submit designs?
See details and procedures for Design Submission. When you are ready to submit, you will upload your competition designs using the Login•Submit page. You will login with your email address and the Pass Code sent to you by email.
How many boards (24"x36") can I submit?
You can submit 1 or 2 pdf files. Format size is 24"x36" pdf horizontal (ARCHD). A big upload will take some time depending on your connection speed.
Do I have to submit a movie?
No, a movie is optional. If you do make a movie, or get someone to help you, it will be shown on the Algae Competition YouTube channel. You just never know, if creative and compelling, your movie might go viral.
Can I enter projects or designs that have already been completed?
Yes. A submission can be a proposal, ongoing project or already built project.
Should I submit any information that I consider private, confidential or secret?
Algae Competition is a collaboratory, an open source competition. Any information or design you submit will become public information. If you need to keep your work private, confidential or secret, do not submit it.
